Lyn Harris completed her perfume training in Grasse under the guidance of prestigious flavour and fragrance manufacturers Robertet. She continued for the next 20 years working in the industry. In 2000 she launched her own brand Miller Harris having returned back to her home England where she is now based. The use of naturals is part of her signature style and her catalogue boasts an impressive range of fragrances covering most genres of the perfumer’s repertoire. Feuilles De Tabac is a fantastic example of her work evoking her memories of the brasseries she once frequented in Saint-Germain. Translated as leaves of tobacco, close your eyes and set sail for Cuba. In my opinion this is the best tobacco fragrance you will find on the perfume market today.
Beautifully composed Feuilles De Tabac contains notes of pine needles and sage. Pimento berries and Cuban cascarilla oil add spice to a composition of tobacco, tonka bean and patchouli. The sweet pimento, spices and vanilla create an image of humid bazaars and exotic Central American townships where the world passes time in slow motion. Sitting at a bar a well-groomed man, white linen suit and fedora wipes the sweat from his brow before lifting a bourbon glass to his lips. Feuilles De Tabac is an intoxicating scent full of imagery and ideas. Incase the ingredient list didn’t set off your smoke alarm, beware, this one packs a punch! Use sparingly as it is made in an eau de parfum concentration. If sweet, spice and woods aren’t your preference don’t go here. You will spend hours trying to remove the residue from your skin and clothing.
This is what I call a ‘George Clooney’ fragrance. Perfect for the older man who wants the world to know he is wise but is yet to lose his youthful zest for life (otherwise known as a mid-life crisis). Worn by a younger man it adds an element of sophistication to his presence. Like any fragrance with tobacco notes, Feuilles De Tabac is suitable for smokers and men who naturally have strong odours they wish to mask. It is also a good singles fragrance and screams ‘I’m single and looking’. Lyn Harris encourages all her clients to explore this perfume and it has amassed a small female following since it’s launch in 2000 .
